She is currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients.
With over 10 years of experience in counseling, her areas of specialization include depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief and loss, life transitions, trauma, cultural diversity issues, work and career issues and work/life balance. Dr. Hattori also has a specialty interest in women’s issues including prenatal and postpartum mood disorders, fertility issues and traumatic losses.
Dr. Beryl Hattori is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
Dr. Hattori received her B.A. in Psychology from Wellesley College, her M.A. in Psychological Counseling friom Columbia University and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology (PGSP, now known as Palo Alto University).
Dr. Hattori completed her clinical internship at the Albany Psychology Consortium (Albany Medical Center, Albany VA Medical Center and Capital District State Psychiatric Hospital) in Albany, NY. (Accredited by the American Psychological Association - APA).
She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in Adult Psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente in Mountain View, CA.
Prior to being a private practitioner, Dr. Beryl Hattori previously worked as a staff psychologist in Adult Psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente in Mountain View, CA for 7 years. At Kaiser, Dr. Hattori led therapy groups including Women's Group, Anxiety Group and Dialetical Behavior Therapy Group for Depression and Anxiety (DBT). She also co-faciliated the Pregnancy/Postpartum Stress Series through the Mind-Body Wellness Center at Kaiser.
Dr. Hattori was also a clinical supervisor for post-doctoral psychology residents and gave clinical seminars on Cultural Diversity and License Preparation.
Dr. Hattori is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of CA (PSY22521).
