Beryl Hattori, Ph.D.

Dr. Beryl Hattori is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in individual therapy with adults and maintains a private practice in Los Altos, CA in the San Francisco Bay Area.

She is currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of adult clients, ages 25 yrs and older.

With over 15 years of experience in counseling, her areas of specialization include anxiety, cultural diversity, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship issues, stress management, trauma and work/career issues. Dr. Hattori also has a specialty interest in women’s issues across the lifespan including prenatal and postpartum mood disorders and traumatic losses.

Dr. Beryl Hattori is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges.

She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Education
Dr. Hattori received her B.A. in Psychology from Wellesley College, her M.A. in Psychological Counseling from Columbia University and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology (PGSP)- now known as Palo Alto University) (Accredited by the American Psychological Association - APA).

Clinical Experiences
Dr. Hattori completed her clinical practicum training in Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder (PTSD) at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. She completed her clinical internship training at the Albany Psychology Consortium (Albany Medical Center, Albany VA Medical Center and Capital District State Psychiatric Hospital) in Albany, NY. (Accredited by the American Psychological Association - APA). She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in Adult Psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente in Mountain View, CA.

Prior to being a private practitioner, Dr. Beryl Hattori worked as a staff psychologist in Adult Psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente in Mountain View, CA for 7 years. At Kaiser, Dr. Hattori led therapy groups including Women's Group, Anxiety Group and Dialectical Behavior Therapy Group for Depression and Anxiety (DBT). She also co-facilitated the Pregnancy/Postpartum Stress Series through the Mind-Body Wellness Center at Kaiser.

At Kaiser, Dr. Hattori was also a clinical supervisor for post-doctoral psychology residents and gave clinical seminars on Cultural Diversity and License Preparation.

Prior to pursuing her career as a psychologist, Dr. Hattori had a career in the corporate world of real estate finance in New York City.

License
Dr. Hattori is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of CA (PSY22521).

Dr. Hattori is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), California Psychological Association (CPA) and Santa Clara Psychological Association (SCCPA).
